The Wider Curriculum
Learning and teaching is based on an engaging, challenging and creative approach to the 2014 National Curriculum, offering depth and breadth. We believe in a curriculum model where pupils’ key skills and knowledge are developed across different subjects, themes and opportunities and that through rich experiences we are able to inspire rich minds.
We use Edison’s Connected Curriculum as a basis for these topics and themes. Teachers consider the children's interests and add bespoke elements to the curriculum offered across the school. We try to link learning across the subjects including maths and English. We have also introduced the ‘Learning and Life Skills’ curriculum into our offer. These are skills for life that link to all areas of school life. The purpose of their focus is to equip children with the skills required as they grow and develop into adults, e.g. how to work as part of a team, or taking personal responsibility.
