Volunteers and Work Experience (Click here for more information)

Volunteers

We welcome Volunteers here at Greenways and have a number of parents, grandparents and friends of the school working across School. We recruit volunteers as general classroom support within a regular class and time slot. This can be anything from hearing readers, supporting individuals and small groups to getting stuck in on the school allotment and helping on trips.

We also welcome volunteers wishing to gain a placement for courses, e.g. supporting teaching and learning courses. Fees are imposed on the school to complete DBS checks for those on courses and this cost is covered by the volunteer (£44 +£15 admin fee).

All volunteer placements are subject to an application process, references and DBS. Please see the link at the bottom of the page for the application form and forward to Mrs Rees at katherine.rees@lihtrust.uk

Please note that we often have a waiting list for volunteers and therefore cannot guarantee an immediate placement.

School Work Experience

We welcome a number of pupils from local schools to complete their work experience placements. If you would like to come to Greenways for your work experience please forward your school's paperwork to Ms Cruickshank along with a covering letter. This letter should outline:

  •  why you wish to work in a school environment
  • why Greenways is the school you would like to complete your placement in
  • any other information you would like us to know about you

Ms Cruickshank can be contacted at jane.cruickshank@lihtrust.uk

Short Placements/College Placements

We get a number of requests for short, one-off placements of school experience for those currently training to teach or those hoping to apply for a teaching course. Unless applicants hold their own or a universal DBS, e.g. from the training provider, we are unable to offer you a placement. Please contact Mrs Rees who will be able to help you at katherine.rees@lihtrust.uk
